Lovely quality late Victorian mahogany pedestal desk. With makers name plate ‘Simpole’s of Manchester and Liverpool. The nine mould fronted drawers of a good, hand-cut, dovetailed construction with mahogany linings, working locks and the original brass swan neck handles. With well polished sides and back and standing on short cabriole legs. The top with a shaped gallery and an imitation green leather top.
Simpole’s of Manchester was a specialist office furniture manufacturer and was established in the late 19th Century.
With an interesting plate inscribed ‘Presented to Rev. John McKee B.A. on the occasion of his marriage by members & adherents of Queen’s Rd. Presbyterian Church, Liverpool 1st July 1914.
