Well proportioned late Victorian mahogany pedestal partners desk. With nine drawers to the front, all of a good, hand-cut, dovetailed construction with the original brass swan neck handles and working locks. The reverse with 3 further drawers and 2 panelled and locking cupboards. The top with the original hide leather top in good condition. The pedestals interchangeable so able to have drawers and a cupboard on both sides or both cupboards. Shown before restoration

Windsor Castle Room 332 relates to an inventory of the contents of Windsor Castle in 1866. This room was a Visitor’s bedroom, later occupied by Sir Francis Laking, physician to Queen Victoria. It remains a senior staff bedroom when the court is in residence. In that inventory the firescreen is catalogued as item no.31 in the room.
